GOJIRA Frontman Explains New Album Title
June 13, 2008Guitarist/vocalist Joe Duplantier of the French progressive extreme metallers GOJIRA recently spoke to the UK's Total Guitar about the band's forthcoming album, "The Way Of All Flesh", due on October 13 in Europe via Listenable Records and October 14 in North America through Prosthetic Records.
According to Joe, the follow-up to 2005's "From Mars To Sirius" which was tracked in Los Angeles with producer and ex-MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader and at the band's home studio in Bayonne in the south of France is even "more intense, more brutal, and more melodic" than its predecessor, which the band has been touring for the last three years alongside bands like TRIVIUM, LAMB OF GOD and MACHINE HEAD.
The album deals with life and death and the band's new outlook towards both. "'The Way Of All Flesh' is everything we have to go through until death," Joe told Total Guitar.
"I'm 30 years old now and its the first time as a human being that I've thought abut my own death philosophically, and the time that I have to spend here on earth. It's something that we're all concerned about. But it's almost taboo. You don't go to a party and talk about death, right?"
